How do I protect my RV from tire blowout damage?

The best protection is two layers: keep tires in good condition to make blowouts rare, and fit a shield over each wheel so a blowout that still happens can't reach the RV. ARMIS RV Guardian is that second layer, built for fifth wheel tandem and triple axle trailers.

How ARMIS RV Guardian works:

  • For leaf spring suspension, Armis attaches to existing U-bolts, so it moves with the axle and stays aligned with the tire.

  • For independent suspension solutions, Armis MORryde IS or Curt TCS mounting solutions connect to the suspension arms ensuring movement with the wheel assembly.

  • When a tire comes apart, the tread and belts strike ARMIS instead of the RV wheel well, wiring, sidewall, and trim.

  • If running the optional faceplate, removing 7x 10mm bolts takes 20 seconds and then it's a normal tire change. If running without the optional faceplate, there's nothing to do except change the blown tire.

  • After a blowout, the usual repair is a new tire instead of a lengthy repair when blowouts cause serious damage.

  • An optional outer faceplate gives a cleaner look and additional sidewall & trim protection; leave it off for a lower profile look.

It doesn't replace tire care. Check pressures, use a tire pressure monitor and replace aging tires. ARMIS covers what maintenance can't prevent: road debris, hidden defects and blowouts on good tires.

Questions

What is ARMIS RV Guardian? A tire shrapnel containment system that bolts over each trailer wheel and absorbs a blowout so the RV isn't damaged.

Which RVs is it for? Fifth wheel tandem or triple axle trailers with leaf spring over-axle suspension or independent suspension (MORryde or Curt TCS) and 16 to 17 inch tires. (Curt TCS disk brake configuration is currently supported.)

Do I still need a tire pressure monitor? It is recommended and warns you early of tire failures; ARMIS protects the RV if a tire fails anyway. Sometimes it happens instantaneously without any warning.
